Shops: Basics; bread,
milk, papers etc- Yarnbrook Filling Station-left
at Church-3/4 mile. Farm Shop-fresh eggs, cakes,
jam, logs etc-right at church, immediately right again. 5 minute walk. Tell
them you're staying with us....! One Stop, open
till 11pm,-right at Church, into Westbury, first square on left.
Spar store Left out of house, left again at main
road, 1 mile on Right.
Payphone; Outside number 13 next door!
Supermarkets; Co-Op Pioneer -Right
at Church-1mile on left. Coopers in Westbury, more
comprehensive range, also has Post Office Tesco-Trowbridge-left at church, right at roundabout,
left at lights, over mini-roundabout, left at roundabout -3
miles
Pubs; Royal Oak Hawkeridge,
great food, see menu on table. Hungry Horse
Yarnbrook-speaks for itself really, but cheap steaks etc and very large
portions. Westbury Square, a variety here, but can
be a bit on the wild side at weekends-be careful ! Westbury Hotel more civilised.
Social Club,
pool, snooker;The Lafarge golf and social club
is open to non-members each evening and is a short walk or drive from the
house. There are two snooker tables, pool, darts, and a gymnasium. There's no
restaurant at present but the bar is very good value! Right out of house, right
at church second left, follow signs.
Restaurants; Champion-great Chinese, but must book at weekends and
still be prepared to wait ! China Village
take-away excellent in Westbury square. Thai Barn
Bradford-on-Avon, really super food, must book, v. pricey.
Thai Rice Warminster, sit down or take away, good
food, much cheaper. Saffron in Westbury is the
best take-away in the area but very slow, so order early and re-heat ! More
up-market is the Assam in Trowbridge but small
take-away portions. Also Tale of Spiceindian &
takeaway in Trowbridge. Other good places are the Dandy
Lion and Bunch of Grapes in
Bradford-onAvon. There's also an indian-The Maharajah.
More Bradford restaurants include; The Georgian
wine Lodge, The Bear Inn, Widbrook Grange Hotel , Le Mange-tout, The Swan Hotel
and The Rialto There's a great place by the canal,The Lock Innsit outside or eat in. Very laid back and
reasonable prices. There are dozens of restaurants and wine bars in Bath, just
follow your nose. Without doubt the best Sunday roast in Britain is at
The Ivy in Heddington, it's about 30 mins drive
